Reflection

I think that myself as a blogger has grown. At fist the thought of blogging, and the larger audience made me nervous. This kind of helped me with getting over worrying what people would think of me. It's easy to blog now and just state your opinion without worrying. I like that blogging is kind of just this open world. I think that it would be better if my opinions were longer (depending) so I could make a little more sense.

Poetry Friday

I think that poetry Friday was a great idea for the year. Its not that it has made me more confident in writing my own, but I have picked up on some skills and creativity. I think that this has made me more skilled and stronger of a poet. I think that if we continue to do Poetry Friday then i will grow a lot in my ability.

Reflection

I would be very sad if I couldn't come back next year for this class. I think that this year has been extremely fun. There has been a lot of creative activities that we have done throughout the course of the year. I think that I would remember a lot of the Poetry Friday activities that we have done. I personally like poetry and I wasn't quite sure what the year would bring for it. I know that not many would agree with me on this one but I hope that next year we can do more on Shakespeare. So I can't wait until next year.

Catching Fire: Reveiw

I am going to be reviewing the book: Catching Fire. This book was written by Suzanne Collins. This book is in first person from Katniss's point of view. The basic plot of this book is that Katniss (the main character of the first book) (The Hunger Games) is living her life as a victor. Ever since her cunning plan with the poisonous berries, her glistening, gold, mockingjay pin has become the symbol for rebellion, as is she. This book is not centering Katniss as much as the districts in general. Outbreaks have broken out and are combining to overthrow the capital, before the capital brings them all back into order. I liked Catching Fire because it was a very unpredictable reading and it always kept my attention. The first book of the series was also a very catching book and it set a great plot for the second. I think that this book would be great for later teens or adults. This book regards some more adult concepts, such as mutiny, slaughter, and forcing children into an arena for a fight to the death. This book is 391 pages (of greatness).

Renaissance Italy (Shakespeare)

A number of Shakespeare's plays take place in renaissance Italy. Shakespeare never traveled to Italy himself but had heard stories, seen drawings, and painted his own picture in his mind. Shakespeare was born during High Renaissance Italy, a few steps ahead of England. Shakespeare liked the idea of writing plays in Renaissance Italy because it was far more interesting than England. England at this time was still in a dark age, not concentrated or even open to the idea of art or literature.

Some of my favorite artists in Renaissance Italy

Leonardo Da Vinci

Michelangelo

Raphael

Antonio Allegri da Correggio

Race relations: Great Depression

I am writing a blog based on the varied race respect during the early 1930's. During the Great Depression in the early 1930's in northern cities, whites fired an African American for every white American who was jobless. When president Franklin Roosevelt was elected, he made it a goal to give African Americans what he said to be "A sense of belonging that they never experienced before". Franklin Roosevelt was also known to have multiple African American advisors in the white house. When Americans were initiated into World War II, The labor leader, Asa Philip Randolph was threatening Washington D.C. that he would organize a protest against job discrimination in law enforcement, military, and other state defense jobs.

Haiti after the earthquake

Haiti has always suffered from poverty and now that this massive earthquake has toppled most of the architecture into nothing but dust and chunks of glass and steel. There are many groups that are helping Haiti recover from this disaster and are shipping relief supplies into the places that have been struck. It will be very difficult to recover from this tragedy, and when they do it won't be completely. This country will need help from a country like us to help them recover. If a million people donated five dollars they could be well on their way to recovery. I personally am going to make a small donation of ten dollars to the Red Cross fund.

Haiti History

I read some facts about Haiti rediscovered by Christopher Columbus of Europe and I have found out that for years they have had many problems with their government. But despite the problems they were the first country ta have African slaves fight for their freedom and ever since then they have been free. For quite a while in history there were many groups who have tried to control Haiti. A very bitter, cruel group had controlled Haiti for quite some time and many of the citizens moved to the United States to evade the government. The Ciboney Indians that originated from South America, migrated to Haiti in around 2000 B.C. and when the French had found the land they had decided to colonize in the land and transform it into a monstrous sugar plantation. Many of the natives from the land had been turned into slaves to work in the plantation. Then when they decided to fight back they were announced free by the government.

Blogging

I think that blogging is a good way to get your opinions to be heard beyond the classroom. I personally like the idea about sharing my opinion with people and your not just limited to what you can say about your opinion. I also like having different things to write about everyday. I also like how I don't have to speak aloud in front my classmates. So I, in general like blogging.

The Hunger Games-Suzanne Collins

The Hunger Games is about twelve districts that choose children from the ages twelve through eighteen that are chosen at random, one boy, one girl. These children are forced into a ring with the clothes on their back and the skills that they have learned. These twenty four competitors are forced to a battle to the death.

monster vocab-Human

Human-

Steve wishes that he could just be considered human and be treated the same as anyone else despite the area he lives in. Because what really makes us different other that appearance.

My opinion on capital punishment

I think that if the person who is being sentenced for death has killed multiple people then well what is one life gone than the others to follow by that person. But I also think that it is wrong to kill someone for killing someone to show the world that killing is wrong. But also if others are in danger there are other ways to keep the public safe from harm.

Guilty, innocent?

I think that Steve could be guilty because of the kind of signs he is giving off, and the circumstances of Steve's situation and the fact that inside he knows or feels like he did something wrong. Like when he walked away when the women were talking. And the fact that he had just walked out of the store when he couldn't find mints.
